We’re so excited to welcome you to the field for Comms Unplugged 2025. Please read the following instructions carefully – if you have any questions email us on commsunplugged@gmail.com.
Things to do before you head off to the field
We’ve produced a handy kit list to help you work out what you’ll need.
Getting there – location, travel and parking
Comms Unplugged takes place at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre, Blanefield, G63 9BA. We’re less than a half-hour drive from the heart of Glasgow.
If you are arriving by train, the nearest station is Milngavie. Auchengillan is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from the station. There is a taxi rank at the station.
If you’re driving to the site from the south, you’ll arrive on the A809 and the entrance to the campsite is on your right. Driving from the north, the entrance is on your left.
Head up the drive to the main car park and head for the reception building.
Our event is held in the Training Ground field. You’ll see our Comms Unplugged signage to direct you to our check-in desk. From there, we’ll take you on the 2-minute walk to our campsite and Campsie Cabins. You will not be able to drive your vehicle into the campsite area.
Feel free to leave your kit in the car to come and check in if you’ll need a hand carrying everything.
Want to travel share?
Email us commsunplugged@gmail.com and we will do our best to connect you with other unpluggers making the same or a similar journey.
When you arrive
If you need help pitching your tent or finding your way around there are loads of experienced unpluggers, as well as the organisers, who will be happy to help. Just ask! You can pitch up anywhere within the area we’ve designated in the field for camping.
Depending on what time you arrive on Thursday 4 September, you can pitch your tent or find your allocated Campsie Cabin when you get to the site or wait until the afternoon’s programme has finished.
Please sign in with the organisers as soon as you arrive. You will also be given your Comms Unplugged swagbag.
Site layout, health and safety
When you arrive you will need to park in the car park in front of the two main buildings. The camping/training ground area is down to the right hand side, passing the toilet and shower block.
The Campsie Cabins are along the right hand side of the camping area, while the main marquee and area for pitching tents will be on your left. There is a path leading to the cabins. The marquee and camping area is on grass.
Please note that we do not have access to the accommodation buildings and these may be in use by other groups. You can see a map of the site below with our areas clearly marked.
Facilities on-site
The field where Comms Unplugged takes place has two water standpipes where you can fill water bottles.
Although we don’t encourage phone use – except for taking photos, we are unplugged after all! – we understand that you may need to be contactable, so consider bringing a portable power bank to retain charge. The only electricity will be to power lights and heating in our marquee.
There are basic toilets and showers next to our field in the main block on-site. The main campsite is less than a 5 minute walk from the car park.
We will have both general waste and recycling bins near the main marquee – please try to keep waste to a minimum and recycle wherever possible.
It’s time to unplug!
